Our Finalists in 2023

Category 1: Driving change in the finance community

This award recognises the contribution of individuals, organisations or joint-entrants in driving action to integrate sustainability through education, training and academia. Entries can be self-nominated or nominated by a third party and must be relevant to the wider accounting or finance community.

Entrants must demonstrate:

  • Their accounting/financial research, thought leadership or training contributes to the development of sustainable business models.
  • Their activities can generate, or are expected to generate, tangible environmental and/or social benefits.
  • They have proactively engaged students, peers or finance professionals to drive change.

Category 2: Communicating integrated thinking

This award recognises organisations that are practicing authentic integrated thinking and are communicating this to their providers of financial capital.

Entrants must demonstrate:

  • They are able to articulate clearly what integrated thinking means to them and to their providers of financial capital.
  • They are practicing authentic integrated thinking within their organisation and are communicating this effectively across a range of communications.
  • The finance team is critical in embedding and communicating the organisation's integrated thinking.

Category 3: Embedding an integrated approach

This award recognises organisations where sustainability is embedded in the overall strategy and decision-making processes. The award recognises finance teams that play a critical role in delivering this.

Entrants must demonstrate:

  • Sustainability is embedded into their organisation's overall strategy and decision-making processes and is widely considered to be core to activities.
  • They generate tangible environmental and/or social benefits IN ADDITION TO delivering positive financial outcomes.
  • In relation to Public Sector and not for profit deliver value for money within prudently managed budgets, through spending less, spending well and spending wisely.
  • The involvement of the finance team is critical in achieving all of the above.

Category 4 and 5: Moving financial markets (SME and Large)

This award recognises organisations that have investment activities, products and services that demonstrate ambition to build a more sustainable financial system.

Entrants must demonstrate:

  • Sustainability is embedded in their investment activities, financial products or services.
  • Their approach is enabling the generation of environmental and/or social benefits IN ADDITION TO delivering positive financial outcomes.
  • They have successfully scaled up their activity, product or service or are actively working to do so.

As we collectively accept that we face not just a climate emergency, but crises both of catastrophic loss of nature and rapidly increasing inequalities, it is only fitting that we recognise those organisations that are demonstrating leadership in combating them.
